Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 29, 2026
Please read these terms carefully before booking our services. They outline what you can expect from Dover Handyman and your responsibilities as a customer.
1. Service Agreement & Scope
These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the “Customer”) and Dover Handyman (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By booking our services, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms.
Our services include general home maintenance, repairs, furniture assembly, interior painting, flooring installation, and other tasks as agreed upon in the project estimate. We explicitly exclude major structural alterations, certified electrical work, certified plumbing work, and any tasks requiring specialized licensed trades not held by Dover Handyman.
2. Booking & Scheduling
All project estimates provided are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. To secure a booking, the Customer must approve the estimate verbally or in writing.
- Cancellations: We request at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a nominal scheduling fee.
- Arrival Windows: We provide estimated arrival windows. Traffic, weather, or previous job extensions may cause slight delays; we will communicate any significant delays promptly.
3. Payment Terms
Pricing is determined on a per-project basis (flat rate) or an hourly rate, as outlined in your specific estimate. Material costs will be itemized separately.
- Deposits: Projects exceeding $1,000 CAD or requiring significant custom material purchases may require a deposit of 30% to 50% prior to commencement.
- Invoicing: Final invoices will be issued upon substantial completion of the work.
- Methods: We accept Cash, e-Transfer, and major Credit Cards. Payments are due within 7 days of invoice receipt unless otherwise stated.
4. Liability & Limitations
Dover Handyman carries general liability insurance to protect your property during the course of our work. However, our liability has specific limitations:
- We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, hidden structural issues, or code violations discovered during our work.
- If hidden damage (e.g., water damage behind drywall) is uncovered, we will halt work and notify the Customer immediately. Additional repairs may require a revised estimate.
- We guarantee our workmanship for a period of 1 year. This does not cover normal wear and tear, abuse, or material failure covered by manufacturer warranties.
5. Customer Responsibilities
To ensure a smooth and safe working environment, the Customer agrees to:
- Provide clear, unobstructed access to the work area.
- Ensure pets and small children are kept safely away from the active work zone.
- Provide access to essential utilities necessary for the work, including electricity and running water.
- Remove fragile, valuable, or sentimental items from the immediate work vicinity before we arrive.
6. Dispute Resolution
We take pride in our Port Dover community and strive for 100% satisfaction. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please contact us within 48 hours of job completion. We will make every reasonable, good-faith effort to inspect and rectify any workmanship issues promptly.
7. Modifications
Dover Handyman reserves the right to modify or update these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of our services after any such changes constitutes your consent to such changes.
